3rd XI Match Reports

3/7/10 - Chipping Sodbury 205-5 (45) Portishead 205 (42.1)

An amazing game at Bristol Road ended in a tie this weekend. Sodbury had amassed 205 thanks to opener Wakefield (100), with Jake Bull taking 2-35 and a wicket apice for Paul Johnson and Robbie Colyer. In reply Bobby Gould (71) and Cameron Gray (42) seemed to have put the thirds on the brink of victory. However with the scores tied the last four Posset batsmen failed to get a single run to win the game before being bowled out, despite Adrian Fishman hobbling back to the middle following an earlier retirement.

10/7/10 - Bradley Stoke 144 (37.1) Portishead 146-3 (21.2)

The thirds cruised to an easy 7 wicket win at Bradley Stoke. Batting first only D.Talbot with 53 made a significant contribution to the home teams score. There were 3 wickets apiece for Rusty Walker and Chaz Stuckes, backed up by three excellent catches from Johnny Marsh. In reply after two early wickets had gone down John Tiley (53) and Cam Gray (66no) saw Portishead home before even half the overs had been bowled.

17/7/10 - Portishead 87 (30.3) Pucklechurch 57 (18.2)

A quite remarkable game at Bristol Road saw the thirds win by the margin of 30 runs. Put into bat on a damp wicket the home team slumped to 25-6. Dave Finch (30), James Marsh (12) and Robbie Colyer (11) claimed a batting point as 87 was reached. In reply only opener Barnes (13) reached double figures as the visitors were shot out inside 19 overs. Robbie Colyer claimed the first wicket to finish with 1-12 before James Marsh (4-21) and Dave Finch (5-18) ripped through the rest of the batting.

24/7/10 - Almondsbury 173-9 (45) Portishead 174-9 (36.3)

The thirds scraped home by one wicket in an exciting encounter at Patchway. The home team reached a good total in their alloted overs with Cam Gray the top bowler with 4-29. Chaz Stuckes chipped in with 2-22 with Kumi, Dave Finch and C.Cook getting one wicket each. Jak Phillips (45) and Pete Savory (41) got Posset off to an excellent start but wickets then began to tumble. Dave Finch (31) and Cam Gray (13) reached double figures but it was left to last pair John Tiley and Chaz Stuckes to get the winning runs.
